Adding Fibre to a Diet

Does anyone add anything to their dogs food to increase fibre intake?

Daisy is on Barking Heads dry food which she does well on. But my vet did mention increasing her fibre intake after a recent trip to have her anal glands emptied (although I hasten to add this is only the second time in four years that she's had to have this done).

However reading online I have read that an exclusive dry diet can result in anal gland issues sometimes.

If no reason not to have RMBs (raw meaty bones) I would give one occasionally to help empty anal glands if they're an issue

Fur and feather or as above, a bone/chicken carcass etc.

I feed raw carrots, blueberries and banana to my wee dogs and we haven't had any whiffy odours for a few years now. We also feed Barking Heads dry and all dogs look fantastic on it.

mine are on skinners kibble as basic diet but always get a bit of this or that extra which does include a random handful of bran flakes here and there.
not very scientific i know but they do very well.

Mine get some veggies every day, broccoli stems (cooked), spinach, carrots, peas or whatever is going. They are on mostly raw with a little dry food.

We give each of ours a carrot everyday
Our cocker spaniel does suffer with his anal glands and has done since a young age, however since he's been having his daily carrot things seem to be ok *touches wood*

Much as I dislike cereals in dog food, I added powdered bran to Jake’s food back in the day, worked a treat.

My younger two had icky anal gland issues and the vet taught me how to empty them internally. A groomer would also do it. I’m delighted to say they’ve grown out of it (aged 8, took a while!) They’re raw fed, loads of bones, always have been, so I’m not sure how useful bones are, they have very firm output which should help but didn’t for ages.

My dog has terrible problems with anal glands, never had a dog with such a problem. Our vet recommended Protexin Pro Fibre & so far it seems to be firming her stools up & she hasn’t needed her glands emptied in over a month which is unheard of! I have previously tried canned pumpkin, carrot, bones etc but to no avail.

I'll offer some bones more regularly and start adding some vedge to her diet, and see how we go.
