I have 3 seats in the front of my lorry, the middle seat has a lap-strap seat belt. I've another baby is coming so will need to put 2 car seats in the front and cant put 2nd car seat in on just a lap-strap. (car seat 1 is fine as the outer seat belt is a 3 point seat belt)

Question I'm asking is has anyone ever installed a 3 point seat belt in the center lorry seat, can it be done? I have a cut through cab so looking at it, it can be secured to the floor, fixed to the roof and clicked in on the original clasp?

I'm presuming it can be done - I've seen so many works vans which have had seats/seat belts added in the back to carry extra crew.

I am asking my mechanic friend at the weekend but i just wondered if anyone had ever done this and how easy is was?

Yes OH is a mechanic (prefers cars to lorries but ends up doing lorries for people I know!) and pretty sure he recently put normal seat belts into a lorry (I don't think it had any on the passenger seats as pre 2000) with a cut through. I can try to find out more for you.

Have found out more about what was done - so as a child seat could go in the middle where there is only a lap belt, OH put a reinforcing plate on the cab floor and then attached a race car style harness to the reinforced plate and also to a mount behind the cab seats. He said it is essential that the cab floor is reinforced to ensure that it is safely secured.

cricky that sounds a bit complex but if it works thats what we shall need. Thank you for your response. I will look into it. I've until March then all being ok we'll be back out again. This time with 2 kiddys in tow.. :-)
