As we had a month between events we decided to have a bit of fun today

Started with the Derby trial - was on the small side and very straightforward. K hunted him round and he loved it and just popped round for fun, unfortunately as she jumped the last fence the buzzer went - she had missed out the penultimate fence

On to the derby, it was full up, ok, not big by the standards of most on here but big for us! It was the same course as they jumped in the aff Derby the day before just smaller

They had now included the water jump which he had never jumped before and an upright one stride off the botton of the bank

They jumped clear

Only seven clear and she was 4th to go in the JO, they stuck it up to 1m which made K nervous as B has never jumped a course over 90cm, she was most worried about the planks, so off they set, clear one and two, had three down and then popped the planks for fun

unfortunately she was supposed to jump through the dyke before the planks

So 7th, they got a rosette and got to do a lap of honour and he did look very tiny in the line up with all the big horses

So very happy journey home and very pleased with the golden pony - just shoot the jockey

Tea and chocolate fingers to all.

Clever pony, shame there were 2 'steering' issues at 1 event!

Sounds like a fun class - how often do they run them? We went to Addington for the JAS final and it's a fab venue.

They have a "Derby weekend" once a year, aff on the saturday and unaf on the Sunday. They are however running "arena XC" a couple of times over the summer which I would imagine would be fun as well, we did an eventer trial earlier in the year and the XC course was lovely.
