Its been a busy weekend! Here's a few reports from the last few days!
very long i'm afraid!
First up was the young one, he went to Keysoe and was a total superstar, although a little fresh and cheeky! he finished up 7th with a double clear, he would have been 2nd but the ground was like the M40 so went steady and got a couple of time penalties.
Next day was a trip to Osberton.... I had my mare running as she hadn't run for so long and she needed to run as she has Chatsworth advanced at the weekend. She was far too laid back in the dressage and we lacked sparkle and scored an average mark which is a bit depressing as she did a nice test. SJ seemed to be causing all sorts of problems, not sure why as it looked small compared the last few events I have done!
at this point mare had fully woken up and was positively wild.... we were bouncing on the spot and she became very feisty... jumped clear but it was hard work containing her! Although according to people watching there was no way she was going to touch a pole! Silly thing.... she was even worse XC and just would not back off anything, she pulled my arms out and gave me a real battle. she flew round clear but along the way I was so busy trying to anchor her I did manage to miss out a fence
luckily as I was galloping away I did remember and jumped it.... worked out we would have been 3rd or 4th without the little detour, but glad she has managed to get this feistiness out of her system before Chatsworth as I would like some brakes and control there!
The real highlight of the week was yesterday at Addington Manor. Went Showjumping with Tony and was persuaded (forced) into jumping the last two classes... it turned out to be a fab evening as Daisy Dick was also there and is great fun! She had the gorgeous Spring Along and Spring Bok. we decided it would be Eventers Vs Showjumpers... The first class the Grade C, was big enough, definitely up to height compared to some. All us eventers jumped clear with T's mare and Spring Along just rolling an unlucky pole. The jump off became a real competitive affair with not one person having a rail off even though the fences were even higher and wider! We all jumped clear again with my mare pulling off some fab turns to win the class!
clever lass.
The next class looked absolutely huge even bigger and wider than before! I dread to think how high they were...
I thought I may as well give it ago as mare was really pinging and was so ridable. She pulled it off and jumped a lovely clear first round, as did Spring Along who I had decided would be good opposition in the jump off as he is so nifty! T's horses jumped lovely double clears and we were all through to the jump off again... and yes.... even higher it went! Some proper showjumpers jumped some brilliant jump offs with a former Hickstead speed derby horse taking the lead. At this point I decided there was no chance against this lot! Turning 2 strides out to oxers that high! Just silly! Spring Along set the 2nd quickest time but my mare really was on song and nipped around just a fraction slower than the Hickstead horse. Still in shock that we came 2nd in that class! It was so much fun though!
and great when some one like Daisy says how much they love your horse!
We even had a show jumper inquire about her- in which my answer was NO CHANCE!
Off to enter Bramham.......
