Hi,
I am wondering if anyone can give me any recommendations/advice..
I have recently started competing on my ex-racehorse. When I got him he had been out of work and had zero muscle and was quite skinny, he has now put on lots of muscle and looks well and he is fit and we have been competing since March.
He is fed on alfa-a, calm & condition and conditioning cubes & scoop of brewers yeast.
He was also on corn oil previously to help with weight gain but have stopped this now.

I am happy with his weight and he has ample hay & grass now he is out one side of the day. However I feel (dare I say it) I need something to give him a little more oomph when competing! I will be introducing this slowly before each competition and don't plan to keep him on this all the time as he can be quite on his toes most of the time so don't want anything that will send him wild! Just something that can give him short bursts of energy.

Hesitant to go down the route of oats.. Does anyone have any recommendations? Thanks!

Go back to the oil. It is what we feed endurance horses for energy - not as heating as oats, but a great source of extra calories for hard working horses.

You could try A&P Power and Performance if you're happy with the calm & condition. We feed Cool & collected usually with a tiny bit of P&P to keep the gut accustomed to it, then up the P&P before competition.

Alternatively try NAF Ener-G 3 days before competition until competition day.
