I'm applying Hydrogel twice a day to a nasty wound on my horse's thigh, and am covering the treated wound with an adhesive dressing as it's too awkward a place to bandage - Does anyone know the best ADHESIVE DRESSING for applying in these situations? I'm buying human dressings from the chemist ATM but wondered if there was anything more 'sticky' specifically for application over fur?

i had this trouble a few months ago, needed to stick 'plaster' over some skin biopsy sites, i ended up getting them from chemist, then sticking round them with tape from the chemist, couldn't find anything else that worked!

There is this stuff called Polster-plast that you can buy from your vet- i'm not sure how much it is though!

You will need a skin tact or melolin to put over the wound, then stick the polster-plast over the top.

It will only stick on dry fur, but when it is on it is does tend to stay in place for a while. It can be quite difficult (and painfull) too remove, so i 'think' you can use surgical spirit to 'ease' it off.
Hope this helps

Can vouch for Polster plast stickability. It was what I am using with melolin to cover my horses large wound from having an abscess drained.

Mind you, I guess it will be handy to have in the medicine box. And I'll need something super sticky for when she starts going out. I've ordered two of the wider rolls and with postage by First Class it's come to £35.30! For two 2m rolls of sticky tape
