I was just wondering whether anyone had been to this venue and what they thought of it? I am considering taking Grace in just over a week but have never been before and do not know anyone who has competed there.

You can PM me if you would prefer...

Are you sure you aren't thinking of 'Addington'

Becki is asking about AdLington!

Has anyone actually competed there themselves?

I was wondering what the surfaces were like, whether it was all indoors, all outdoors or a mixture of the two.

I haven't done dressage there but I've done a few welsh shows but not this year so it may have changed: parking's good but there's one (maybe 2) big speed bumps on the way in, there's an indoor arena with (as I remember!) bench seating along one long side and a cafe behind the seating, can't remember the surface but that probably means it was ok (I remember good and bad!), there's also an outdoor arena next to the indoor with good rubber/sand surface. However, as I say I haven't been this year so this information may be rubbish but if it was more local I'd certainly go there for dressage - give it a go!

Hi,
I've jumped there. Indoor is nice and large and quite wide, much nicer than Bold. Can't remember much about the surface (too busy trying to remember the course and stay on!)

The warm up area is outdoor and quite small. Also, it backs on the Virgin mainline service from London to Manchester so you will get the Pendolino going past about 50 metres away a couple of times an hour. I was really worried about that as my horse had never seen a train, but she didn't notice and nothing else spooked either.

Are you going next sunday for the jumping or is there dressage on before that? If the jumping I might see you there!

It's nice. IMO On a par with croft top.
Tests will be indoors - arena as descibed above with seating down one side. Surface, if my memory serves me correctly is the usual peat mix (which 85% of indoors have) - same as old indoor at myerscough/croft top/bold etc
Warmup Outside, again nice, surface good - think it's sand/fibre mix or similar.

One thing to bear in mind is the out door is VERY close to a railway line, and IF a train goes past - maybe a bit hairy for some, but to be fair they go past at some speed, so even the hot horses i've seen don't explode/implode - lol

Good Luck

P.S. It's not as nice as Addington though! lol

As in Adlington nr Macclesfield? It's nice there - you warm up outside in a 20x40 and the tests are ridden indoors. Lovely palce, nice cafe and very friendly. Haven't been for a while though. Surfaces are good as well.
