Has anyone got any ideas on how to hide tablets? So far I’ve tried:

Ham
Cheese
Paste
Meatballs
Greenies pill pockets
Bakewell tart/Swiss roll

All things have worked for a couple of days but she can pick a tablet out of anything it seems. I’m trying to avoid crushing them as I worry she won’t get it all but maybe I should try that next.

The dog is on lifetime medication and gets very distressed if I try and open her mouth to put pills in.

Help :(

We do the three pieces of pâté trick to get the JRT to take his wormer, worth a try? We trained him up for a few days by offering him 3 chunks of pâté on after the other, he was so focussed on getting chunks 2 and 3 he gulped them down. Then we put the pill in chunk no 2, which disappears in no time as he watches out for chunk no 3.

Before this, he was finding and rejecting the pills (which are large) in all the usual offerings such as single lumps of cheese or kippers.

Something sticky like pate, marmite, peanut butter (mustn’t contain xylitol).

Or if you crush and put in food only do it in a very small amount of food, then give her the rest of her meal after she’s eaten it.

Or try a pill giver.
