Adrian has been at the vet's all week. They nerve blocked the hocks & then x rayed them, & he's got changes in both hocks. Not 100% sure what because I was speaking to the vet on my mobile in a lift.

The upshot is that they've 'medicated' the hocks (not sure what with) & he's coming home tomo. He will be on bute & adequan, plus an exercise regime & they're expecting him to bounce back & return to full performance & then some!!

So yeah. Will not be relegated to a field ornament just yet! Has anyone got any 'happy ending' stories that they want to share from horses with something similar?

The only problem is that I feel a complete cow for not realising sooner that something was up. Poor Adrian. I've moaned & moaned about him being slow, & all the time he's actually been a brave little soldier. Got 64% and 3rd last time out BD & that was only a month ago.

Yep, several stories! My mare has had spavins for the last 6 years and is doing exactly the same amount of work that she did before, she's occasionally a little bit stiff and now lives out as that reduces this. They never medicated hers as by the time she was showing lameness they said it was too far gone for it to make any difference ie her hocks had already fused.

Two geldings on our yard, one a big ISH heavy type and the other a little arab, have both been diagnosed with changes this summer just gone, both medicated, both back to normal work now - one was pretty much always a happy hacker but the other one is back to doing BD and jumping now and seems back to normal.
