It has been on the bucket list for a while and wow it is the most fun :D, plus it means Doodle is potentially out of competition retirement (well we shall see how she goes but touch wood!)!

We did a spot of practise at a friends yard last month just to check we could attempt it and Doodle would be ok and then went to a proper organised practise night last night. I never got to do the pony club thing as a child, as I didn't get Doodle until I was 16, so I was super excited :o.

Doodle thought it was brilliant, running about and allowed to be giddy she was in heaven :o, she was awesome though as she's so responsive and easy to ride.I need to practise tighter turns as I do not want to push her too much too soon, but she managed everything really well on her old lady legs :D. More work needed on steering one handed and off my weight and legs just to really cement our turning skills ;), and really need to work on my mounting/ dismounting skills :o:D but overall it went great :D.

Anyone tempted to have a go do it, can't wait to have another go!

Awesome stuff! Another here that is insanely jealous. Since starting Horseball this kind of thing really appeals :)

Where abouts in the country did you do this?

Passes out with jealousy.

We got the bending poles out last night and I am determined to get Daisy fast enough to beat my daughter (7) on her pony (who has plenty of games experience!) as they beat us last time we tried it and I was really trying to win :o :D

:D Did you win? I'm so competitive we were chatting with the coach who said you can have loads of fun at the lower levels, I was the only one like 'what it's not all about winning????' :o.

Next step learning to vault, I fear I may fail on this :D.

Ooo horseball is another on the bucket list! So jealous right back there!

This was at Croft Top in Acrington, with the Lancashire MGA group.

Well currently she's in the lead. I have plans to win tho!!

I was thinking to myself I've got the perfect 14.2 to do adult games with then I remembered how there is no chance at all of me vaulting on, whatsoever!

You've got more chance than me, my three horseball horses are 16.2, 16.3 and 17.2 and I'm about as agile as a squashed snail!

:D My attempts at just getting back on were bad enough never mind vaulting, but we've been given some tips (start with vaulting on shavings bales :D) and the promise of a small pony to help us!

 well hope you're springy :D, maybe actually using a spring board?

I think I could manage to vault off a shavings bale but I'm not sure how I could attach it to Daisy so it wasn't in the way while doing games?!

:D :D :D

I'm not even sure I can vault onto the shavings bales so fear the coach may have her work cut out :D.

Oh I thought the shavings bale was like a step to get you up on the horse not the actual thing you vault onto. How does that work then even my daughter could vault onto one of them and surely two stacked up could be hazardous.

Please take photos of every stage and educate us!

Ah yes sorry, she suggested vaulting onto two bales stacked, maybe she thinks I'm graceful enough not to land in a heap of shavings? :D

Will document our attempts! Though may have to wait till weekend, as Skylla has selfishly blown an abscess so time is being spent putting the poultices back on that she keeps chewing off!

I'm going to leave the vaulting to you.

I like my ribs almost in one piece :o

I'll train Daisy to lie down like a camel or perhaps that thing where they lift their foot and you can stand on it to get on...

:D I'm sure you will feel differently when you see how excellent I become at vaulting :D:D:D and when the ribs stop hurting!

But I like the idea of the horse helping, maybe you could document your approach and we see who can get on the best?

Wait - you were last seen doing an ODE! How did that go?! Link to report?

Haha patience, ODE is this Sunday and I'm hoping Topaz enjoys herself! Will report back when we're done :).

Remembered we did do some more showjumping and won the 90cm, not sure how to link reports though?
