Adult sized individuals who ride ponies.........

Pony is 12hh exmoor, I'm 5'4 1/2". I used to say I was 5'6", but my recent medical at the docs shows otherwise, sob!

He's never struggled to carry me, even when I was 10st 7lb. I felt too heavy, though and lost the weight. Generally I'm between 9.5st and 10st. I get rude comments all the time out hacking - I've discovered the area that they are now in is full of arrogant know-nothings that think it's fine to cackle and laugh/shout something as they pass/meet you. Whatever happened to GOOD MORNING???

I'm 5ft 4 and Toffee is 13.3hh. Here are some pics. She is also long in the back and slightly saggy so probably looks smaller but because of her length, she rides more like a horse than a pony!!

So.... for all of you who DO ride ponies as adults, can we have a survey of what saddles you use that actually fit?

In despair (Saddle Co doesn't fit, and I don't think the new Kay Humprhies one does either)

I have a 15 in Western Barrel racing saddle that I rode my 15hh AQHA gelding in that also fits my mare just perfectly. I also worried about that but when I tried it on her it fit her perfect.

I rode my 13.2hh Arab x Welsh B when I was 11 stone. I'm too heavy now but ride a 14.1hh cob and my 14.3hh Welsh cob at 13 stone. I'm 5 foot 2 and a half

. My 13.2hh wears a 16.5 inch Wintec 500 GP with a extra wide gullett (sp?).

Well, Red is only just a horse- he's 15hh, but i call him my pony. I am 5ft7 and weigh 10.5 stone.
sorry about the horrid pic, was taken after a verrry hard schooling sesh.

i do ride with very short stirrups.

My saddle was made to measure, but a company in Somerset. Would have to look at the saddle to remember the name. I basically had a template done, then specified a 15" sweeping seat (to accommodate my adult size 12 bum) and the top flaps were adult sized. Underneath, it's a pony saddle, just designed more for an adult. It's a lovely fit for both me and the pone and an absolute bargain at £350, plus £100 for the fitting/template drawing.

Hi at the moment I have a four year old 13h section b I have broken in and am now schooling on. I tend to break and school ponies and then sell them on which is supposed to help pay for the bigger horses keep (not that it ever works out that way!)I am 5'2 and weigh just under 9 stone. Socks has never felt like he struggles with my weight and I would have to say he does not tire as quickly as my 5 year old WC x TB who is 15.1hh. I tend to use synthetic saddles on the ponies to keep the weight down. They change shape so often when they are young that its not really worth getting a nice leather saddle as it wouldn't fit for very long anyway!

plenty of pics in my siggie... 14.1hh, 28yo (!) pony. me - 5'5/5'6, heavy than i would like 9.5-10.5st depending on the season! shadow was not chunky, she had a longish back and narrow shoulder, but i'd been after for for over 8 years and i wanted to give her a proper retirement from a long slog at riding schools rather than a riding school in the sky - 5.5years very ahppily trucking me around, even 10 mile sponsored rides at 26 and winning a combined event at my yard at nearly 28!

always felt guillty about weight and height but she was more than able, once i'd fixed her from the riding school damage...

Im 5ft 4, the wrong side of 12 stone (at the moment, normaly sit at around 11 stone).
this is me riding my 14hh connemara.

I'm the lightest member of staff so I have to ride all the ponies. I'm 5'7 and weigh about 8 1/2 stone. I ride ponies from about 12hh upwards - very occasionally I'll have a quick sit on the teeny tinies but only if they are being naughty on the school.

Most of the ponies I ride are about 13.2hh to 14hh ish green youngsters. I happily school, hack and jump them round little SJ courses etc - they don't seem to have any problem with my weight although I do feel rather leggy on them

I love ponies
