Adults on Ponies ? How many of you guys ride a pony

I have a 13.2hh im 5'4'' she is mainly a showjumper, very talented little pony who im trying to convince to be a dressage pone and trains at about elementary.

Both my riding mares are about 14h. One is an Arab, the other is a mini Iberian to look at. Fizzbombs the pair of them :D

So, technically large ponies but height wise their specific breed standards vary tremendously.

I'm about 5'7, 65kgs and part loan a 14.3 welsh D x appy, who I ride.... badly :o Happy hacker, hoping to do some fun rides over summer. He loves to jump but I need lessons, and he has done trec before so quite fancy giving that a go at some point :)

This is Ella, I don't have a photo of Lola being ridden.

Me riding bailey 146 connie x cob and riding my young pony Miller 143. I'm 5ft and a half inch :-) and weight varies from 9.5 stone (when good) and 10 and a quarter (when not good)
Love ponies but sometimes find striding at shows difficult, would love my young pony to be a hand bigger.

I'm not sure if mine really classes as a pony or not... I was sold him as "about 15hh" but that's generous. I'd say he is a big 14.3hh, but fairly chunky. Has massive knees!! The seller described him as "a little horse" which I'd agree with TBF but I always refer to him as a pony. He is very pony-like in his looks, movement, attitude and jumping style. At a guess, I'd say he's mostly Connemara with a bit of cob thrown in but basically just an Irish pony type.

so, yes I suppose I do... 5ft4 riding a 14.3hh ish :)

I'm another in the pony club :-), I'm 38, about 8 and a half stone, 5ft3 and ride a 13hh welsh b who is the best horse/pony I have ever owned !

How do I attach a photo ? Sorry new poster so not sure what I am doing !

I'm, 5ft 7 and have a 14hh newforest x, very aware of the fact that I look a bit of a tit, but then again, my poor girl was passed through the hands of many children before me and is definately more suited to an adult! Used to do some jumping with her when she was younger, but only small now as I feel at the age of 20 it is asking a bit much to carry me over bigger jumps! Still enjoy a bit of XC from time to time though. I've always prefered ponies to horses, I think they have more character.

I am 5'1, about 6st10 and I have a very overgrown Sect C mare who is a shade under 14.2 (max height for C is 13.2hh so technically she is now a D) who is fab- beautiful paces, lovely pop and so easy for me to ride. Having spent years riding anything up to 17.3hh (quite a sight out hunting I can tell you!) I am really enjoying riding her as I can actually use my seat and weight to infuence her movement rather than just being along for the ride!

I also had a 13.2hh Sect C gelding whilst at uni who I hunted with VWH and there was very little I didn't jump on that boy- straight over hedges, walls etc no probs. Jumped him around PN tracks with plenty to spare. He is half pony, half tigger. Couldn't sit his bucks for anything though!

I love my princess pony, no desire to go back to horses anymore...

I am 62 and I have just started riding my young Exmoor 12.2 out. We had our first proper hack out today, went two miles on road and tracks. I did walk some of the way to give him a break. I am training him myself, I bought him last summer as an unstarted 4 year old. I needed something close to the ground for ease of mounting and dismounting. My hip plays up sometimes.

I'm only 5'1", and my mare is 14.1hh. But she is an arab so she is actually still classed as horse so not sure if I count!!

I'm a normal sized, full-grown middle aged woman, but I once went hunting on my kids' 12.2hh dartmoor stallion. Not sure who enjoyed it more!
Not saying he was at the front of the field on the long gallops, but he did his job all day long, and I'd have been hard pressed to pull him up at times.

Have you got any pictures of the two of you hunting? Would love to see them if you have!

Think i'm too big to ride a pony!
5''10!:o

I'm 5ft 10 and until I was 26 rode my 14.2 TB x NF
The last year I rode her (and she was 23 then) we won the cup for the most points in the riding club over the year. We had been placed in showing, SJ eventing, dressage gymkhana games handy pony, family pony, x country. I had her for 17 years

I weigh a bit more now so have a 17hh shire x TB

I agree ponies are fun.

I don't ride a pony now, but when I was 19 I bought a 13.3 stocky native pony. I rode her for 10 yrs, we did a bit of jumping, quite a few shows and we used to hack for miles.

This is my husband on his much loved 14.1hh Forester, he's 5'11 and does everything with her from hunting to showing, he's also got a 16.2hh ID/TB but has as much fun on the Forester!
