hi! adults on ponies what sadles are you using??

Having tried various synthetics - not going down that route again, i am currently using a Saddle company Verona which although very kind on her back unfortunately slips forward about 1/2 inch even with a Trevira girth, various non slip pads and various saddle fitting efforts by patient saddler

My pony is a nightmare shape (bum high, low wither, big shoulder, relatively short back) and i am a 5ft2 adult - not the best combo. Size wise she is a 16.5 MW.

So i've got to get something new - we are going to try a GFS Tweenager. and im just praying it will 'work' for us both as i really am despairing.

Just wondered what every one else uses on there small ponies that they can still get there bum in comfortably?!

I just got my saddler to bring out every second hand leather saddle he had and prayed to hell that one of them fitted...

In the end we got a WH style saddle that had been custom made for the previous owner's 16.3hh Irish Draught, and it fits my 14.2hh Welsh D like a dream. Not sure what that says about her comformation but hey, it fits

I was told that WH style ones were best for tall riders on ponies because it allowed you length of leg without the saddle flap restricting the pony's shoulder - I know that this is an issue now I'm looking for a jumping saddle to fit her, and the flaps are all too far forward and right up her shoulder.

My 14.1hh was ridden in a Barnsby and my current saddle on my 15.3hh is also a Barnsby - they are BRILLIANT!!!

i have a 13.2 NF and im 5ft 3, used to have a hand made line hansen but its too wide (trying to get rid of but no one has a wide enought pony, grr) now so i have a heritage which is so comft

Try fitting a saddle for a compact 13.2HH when your 5'8 and leggy

New forests can be differcult because there quite flat with little wither yet not acutaly that wide (Compared to a hightland or cob or something) So normaly only need a meduim but like you said saddle slipping can be a problem. I had this brillant close contact saddle for a New Forest I had, being a close contac the half panels at the front and flat panels along the saddle did the trick. It was similar to a passoa but had no make. I believe italian. I sold it with the pony but god I miss it. Brillant little saddle.

I love my farringtons wh, i do everything in it, it was made to measure for me and my pony and it does not slip at all on my rather rotund pony

My boy is 14.2 conn x, bum high, no withers, big and wide shoulders. I am 5'10 ish with a 34'' leg. I was riding him in a 15'' mw barnsby espirit (which is now for sale

). It fitted him but not me! Have just got a 2nd hand Albion 17 1/2 mw cc xc saddle, it's not very forward cut so his shoulders are fine and I can fold my legs up on it. It fits him lovely but was a shock for me when I first tried it so much space for my big bum!
