Ponies and fun, horses are boring! Simple as!!!
However I saw an 18 yr old girl, about 5ft8 ish, she's stick thin and riding an 11hh Welsh at an affiliated show the other week!! I thought that wasn't on.
Can't have been comfortable for either of them! (They weren't placed thank goodness!)

That's another reason why adults shouldn't ride ponies - the depth of their hoofprints due to the extra weight absolutely ruins the ground - not very considerate to show owners.

I have to agree with you there. I step into a hoofprint & I sink to my knees
I'm considering buying a miniature shetland. At least that way I can save money. All I need to do is link my ankles under the belly & I have no need for girth, stirrups or leathers. Now that is economising in these times of financial uncertainty

I heard that the time you spend on your knees had a lot to do with your attempts to influence the judges.
