OMG your none excistant nearly, your really light!!!!
I weigh err.... more than you put it that way (over 11 stone), and my pony is 14.1HH cob cross. You could ride a Shetland without it knowing!! Wish I was that light!!! Although I'm 5'5", so would look a little ill baybe.
Definately not. I'm 5'4 and weigh 8 1/2 stone and my pony is 14hh. I think I look fine on him - and I do ride long too but my legs still don't look too long!
I rode a tiny little dartmoor the other week who was about 11.2hh with no problems at all. Im 5' 4" and 47kg. Its great being titchy coz we can get on anything I'm actually thinking next time I get my own horse I might get a pony rather than a horse, easy to get my legs round!!
I'm 5'8", 11.5 stone and have a 13.2 (and a half!)hh Fell pony - I think he could carry me 3 times over, he's built like a tank (and has currently outgrown his wide saddle so I am frantically searching for an extra-wide for him!)
im 5'2 and have a borderline pony 14.3 he coped but my 12.2 used to cope easiley only sold him last year as he wasnt getting any better and woultd work to his full potential rear and spin his attitude was but happy to plod round lanes and in school
I'm 5'7 and weigh 8.5 stone. On a recent trip to Ireland, the hacking stable gave me a 13.1hh cobby pony to ride. Riding schools in America tend to go by rider height--I have *really* long legs--and so I'm rarely on anything shorter than 15hh. I much prefer ponies, though, and wish these American places would disregard my leg length and stop giving me 17hh behemoths to ride.
If ever I move out of the city and get my own horse, I'll be looking in the 14.1-15.1hh range.
I'm 5'2-3" and weigh just under 7 stone (don't know how much that is in kilogrammes) and ride my friends 12.2hh regularly! I did however just sell my 13.2hh last week as I looked too big on him (strange but true fact) and bought a 15.3 who I look fine on, so I'm not really sure.....I can, however, ride the 12.2hh on long hacks and jump and she doesn't get overly tired, and enjoys herself.
that was me on him on Saturday, the day before he went, I don't look too big here :L
Me on new Horsie yesterday (please excuse the following: unnatural facial expression, crappy photo angle, crappy position, and fluffy mane: this is only the second time I have ridden him, and I've not got him home yet )
I am 5'1" and weigh about 8 stone. I have a finely built 13.3 ArabxWelsh and we have won 160km endurance ride (as well as 80kms, 2day 160kms etc) and have competed at ER level for a good few seasons now, so I know she copes with my weight fine
My daughter is 5ft 7 and weighs about 9 stone, she rides our 13.1hh Welsh B and he carries her with no problem. She does look rather tall on him though and people do make comments but she doesn't let it worry her, he is more than up to the job.
I'm 5ft 2 and 8stone ish and have ridden anything from 11hh to 14.2hh (pony wise)
I think I start looking a bit silly at 13hh and under. Here's a pic of me on a 13.2hh pon. You're smaller than me, so you could definately get a way with a teenier pony!
47kg & 5'4 - I ride an 11.1hh welshie (though he is a chunky thing) and about 2yrs ago I did ride THIS pony, who is shetland x mini shet and TINY! (probably less than 10hh!)
And my welshie...
Bareback beginning 2010
2007, last time I had a saddle for him!
Of course, I'm cruel However, both ponies are still alive & happy
I'm 5ft1 and weigh about, eight stone. I've no problems with anything I ride.
I'm normally chucked on the smallest wee ponies if they're being a handful for their child riders ha!
I'm still on imperial measurements so I'm 5'2", weigh about 8 stone and ride a 14.1hh native cob x. My instructor reckoned he could take up to 12 stone....cue very awkward conversation with one of my sisters a few years ago when she wanted to come and ride...
Some of the very robust and hardy native breeds can take quite a lot of weight - eg, Highlands and Exmoors.
