Anyone do it?
Have come to the conclusion that a share will be pointless and lessons not much more use untill my confidence on the ground is back but really dont want to pay for stable management lessons-have owned horses in past and worked at a busy RS full time for a couple of years so it seems a little pointless.

I got my job at RS after helping out for rides ,but ti was all kids then, woudl a RS consider an adult?

I've been working every sunday for the past 5 years for rides and £20 pocket money!! I have nothing to complain about, it works 100% for me!! have had the opportunity to ride 3 fantastic horse, 2 of which are in my sig!

most yards would be happy with an adult helping out, its all kids on the yard i work on and id give my left arm for some sensible adult helpers!!

Ohh thats encoraging!!!
TBH I would be over the moon with the same arangement I had as a teen, worked full day as a groom and got a lesson at end on whatever horse hadnt done much that day.
OH is planning to take son to football matches in not too distant future and I think it would be the perfect chance for me to get confidence back. They spend all day at OH's cousins having fun doing boy things,I play ponies

Allthough our yard has a lot of kids we do have adults as well, it's great if your 18 + as on my particular yard the main escort has to be 18. So on saturdays when I am the only helper of this age I get to do some great hacks and get to ride lots of lovely ponies

I started riding at my RS 4.5 years ago but as well as learning to ride I wanted to learn more about the horse etc so I started to do Stable management courses which the RS provided for us adults as well as the kids. Some of us adults would have joined up with the kids if we had too.

Before I knew it I started going to the RS an hour before my riding lesson and then hanging around for ages afterwards. One day asked if they wanted any help on a Sunday (and that i didn't want paying, just some hands on experience) as the OH is out playing football and then Golf especially in the Summer time so there was no rush for me to go home and I enjoy being outdoors. I get so much enjoyment being with like minded people, having fun etc plus i get some free lessons/ hacks etc for the pleasure of helping. Most of those working on a Sunday are 21 or under my friend and I are 33+.

I have learnt so much from doing this, more than you would get from doing a part time course.

Plus also I have been lucky enough to ride out/exercise every wednesday on one of Eaglestone's horses, roll on springtime so that we can get out hacking again..

Life is too short you need to do things that you enjoy doing
