Has anyones horse had an adverse effect after being put to sleep for an operation?
My friend had her colt gelded recently. He had enough stuff to put out a Rhino as he had no intention of going to sleep.

When brought round it was instant up and off galloping:eek:
He then dozed but then realy laid into the vet kicking her all round the paddock.
He went on to hemourage needing dopeing again to sort it out - 3 lots to sedate him two hours after being put out cold:eek:
He recoverd but turned into a devil pony. Totally out of charactor evilness and total loony. One and a half weeks later he is back to himself but still in prison;)
Has anyone else had a similar experience?

There was (is??) a really interesting programme on Horse & Country TV called Vets in Practice - all about vets in Ireland.

One episode showed a youngster being gelded in the field and being completely knocked out for it to be done.

When he came around, no one had hold of him and he flew across the field - very stressed. The farmer hadn't kept hold of him as instructed - and it was lucky not to have broken it's leg - as I suppose was your friends.

He was being held, but shocked all by just jumping up and going balistic. He turned into a demon for one and a half weeks.
