adverse reaction to internal stitches, how long to settle

Nitty's hock looks worse than when she went in to surgery. She is having a reaction to her internal stitches. Does anyone know how long they take to dissolve and when I might see some improvement? I am having a bit of a funk that it is going to end up just the same as before we had the lump removed. Not like me to be panicy but I am tonight!

Sorry nothing helpful to say, just hope Nits is better soon. She seems to have had to hard, with what seemed like a relatively simple proceedure. Poor Nitty and poor you.
 
Thanks CiaB. She is just that sort unfortunately. OH just told me to suck it up as it is my fault for having a stupid TB. Can't argue with that can I? :D
 
My sister's B&W cat had that problem when she was spayed. In the end the Vet opened her up again and took them out and re-stiched the wound with a different sort of thread.

I have about the same thing but on the hock of a skinny filly. Given that she was in having a lump of similar size removed due to a foreign body reaction this was not entirely the outcome I was looking for! Poo.

And the vet said vicryl and that it is reasonably common?
 
Well it has been less than a month so I guess there is hope that it will resolve on it's own eventually. I really hope so. Honestly, what a bleeding palaver! I had a google of it and all I could find were people getting hives from it! Which was interesting but not that helpful. lol
 
My big chap had surgery to remove fragments of splint bones after being kicked. He reacted to the internal stitching too which produced little boils; 3 in total, which burst and continued to weep. A few days later what was left of 3 sutures poked through and they were removed and the leg settled down. We continued with good stable bandaging overnight for 6 months but a year down the line everything has beautifully settled and no further problems.
