Well, I'm a vegetarain, and, like a lot of horse lovers, I love animals, and shudder to think at the idea of foxes being ripped apart by dogs. But I have quite a few friends who go hunting, and it looks like such good fun, like a big cross country training day with loads of friends with stops in between for chats! Anyway, so I'd really like to start, but I only want to do drag hunting, I wouldn't want to be part of a hunt that set out to kill foxes...So, I know the Tories are planning on repealing the ban? I think? And if they do, will there still be anywhere for someone like me to hunt, will there still be any drag hunts?

:)

And I know a lot of people who use this forum are very strong hunt supporters, I do understand why people hunt, and that its a tradition that stems from farming and peoples chickens/animals being killed etc, but I just hate the idea that we might be getting enjoyment out of chasing and killing a fox...

There are plenty of drag hunts in the UK that were only ever drag hunts and would continue to be so even if the ban were repealed. Where abouts in the UK are you and I'm sure that folk on here could help you find one near you!

I'm glad you've decided to try it, it shows (to me anyway) that you're big enough to consider both sides of the story as it were!

I'm in Devon, near Ashburton/Chudleigh/Newton Abbot. We're right on the edge of Dartmoor so i'm assuming the hunting country will be pretty stunning to ride :)

I think you'll have fun - sounds like draghunting will suit you down to the ground :)
here is the website for the governing body

I had a quick look and (rusty geography aside) I'm not sure there's one near you - the nearest appear to be either the Royal Artillery or the Southern Shires.

Best of luck and I hope you have fun!

Trail hunting-wise of course, you'll have the various Dartmoor packs.

FWIW, we don't rip apart foxes with hounds. In the pre-ban days, if hounds ever had a fox's body, it was already dead. We now hunt a man-made scent, with no fox involved. So you could still trail hunt if you wanted to :)
