So my friend has bought a mini shetland colt as a companion for her cob, any advice on them? any special traits? :) hes adorable!!! :D

Don't be kidded by the cute factor, it's easy to have bad behavior & forgive it because it seems sweet.. Make sure you teach him good manners as you would a big horse as it's just as important. They are very strong for their size, intelligent & quick to learn. Watch his weight as it is amazing how little they need & it's very easy to overfeed. Enjoy:D

Agree with all POLLDARK said, they are quick to learn good and bad habits I have 10 of the little darlings they seem to grow fat on fresh air :-)

The mini shetland I used to look after was a full sized shire in a pint sized body. He was head of the herd, he instigated all the rearing fights with my lad, but he was totally adorable - shetties get into your heart very quickly - and I miss him so much.

I got a mini x yearling 4yrs ago, having never had much to do with them except for one friends pony. Main thing I found was that they seem to be like hamsters for escaping. Even with fencing proportional to their size they seem to manage it. And if friend hasn't already, make sure its stable door is the right height to see over if it will be staying in at all.
