Advice lump/tumour

Mum and Dad are away for 5-6 weeks, we have the lad we employ living in at the farm looking after the dogs and our other full time employee Dave keeps eye on things....

Last week Dave rang to say Maggie (7 yr old whippet bitch) had lump on her elbow, i rang mums friend to have a look as i was at work she suggested i booked appointment at vets, i took her and vet siad he thought it was a slow growing tumour that had got infected and gave me course of antibiotics, he wanted to try easier options first as mum away etc.

Well it's a week later and it's not gone down

, and Dave thinks it's got harder

. She is fine in herself, eating running about etc.......

So advice PLEASE..... i think i'll take her back to vets but just so worried with mum being away for another 4-5 weeks!!!

Can you speak to your mum??

My experience is that once these start changing - they change rapidly, so you may need to make some crucial decisions in the next two weeks.....

i spoke to her yesterday and just said Maggie has a lump nothing to worry about on some antibiotics i really didn't want to worry her and ruin her holiday - i didn't know how/if its serious.
The vet said sometimes not good to interfere with lumps straight off, but now it's not gone down i'm not happy...

Oh F**K i really don't want to make decisions - poor mum had to have old dog PTS not long before she left......

Think trip to vets is in order and pronto get all things straight......

First of all calm down.

The dog is not going to die in the next month. You have taken it to the vet, the vet has given you some treatment, take his advice, he is the expert.

I would take it back to the vet, if they need to remove it then the sooner the better (this is probably a time when you will need to involve your mum). Definitely do not leave it particularly if it is changing.
