i bought a car from uncle A***** in november
the manufacturesrs warrenty ended jan o9
when i picked up the car it had scratches on it whick A***** C**** fixed, then in jan the clutch went the car is an 06 renalt megane cc , today its making a funny noise and jumping out of gear, but the warrenty has ran out .
would you fight with A***** C**** to fix it or do you think that would be a waste of time and i should trade it in ?

cookies and ice cream if you get this far !

meant to say the aa guy came out and said its my gearbox , it will need replaced and it will cost me 3k plus

has it got a full history? if it has you could still be in with a chance of fighting Renualt. see what they say first but otherwise you could fight it under the trade description as not being fit for purpose!
hope this helps.

ps on the other hand companies i believe are doing rather good deals on trade ins

i would get rid of it,renault are very good of getting out of doing any warranty work, you will have a problem trading it if the gearbox has gone, you be better off putting it through the auctions the other problem with renaults is that most of time you can only use genuine parts on them, you could get a gearbox from a salvage company, try somewhere like silverlake salvage

I traded my old corsa in a year or so ago and not one of them listened to the engine or drove the car but it may have just been me having good luck for once

I would trade it in! They are so desperate to sell cars at the moment that they will probably still give you a decent trade in with a knackered gearbox. I have to say that what I know about cars you could write on the back of a postage stamp with a large wax crayon but I have had a Renault from new before and it was obviously a 'friday' car - in the 2 years I had it I had to be stretchered home 4 times with major problems that Renault did sort out but it took weeks at a time. Couldn't wait to get rid of it and got a Toyota instead which was fab. Would never have a Renault again....:-(

A woman i work with had a renault scenic which was a few weeks out of warranty when the electrics went. she rang them direct saying she had had 4 renaults before (she hadn't!) and they eventually agreed to pay 90% of it! And this was only in nov last year so it's worth a try!
