Roo was not so lucky this time - he has just had a large stone removed from his small intestine and an initial call to the vets have advised he is recovering well. So not sure what to expect post op recovery and how long he will remain @ the vets............all past experiences welcome especially on time taken before he will be himself again and allowed on long walks.
( obviously I will listen to the vets but real life experiences are always more realistic )

Thanks in advance..............

One of our old bitches had two pairs of tights removed from the same area. Back in those days it was mummy-style bandages around her middle and no head bucket, she was slowing down anyway (she was about 11) but we had to keep her quiet/nothing strenuous/on the ground/no sofa-surfing/jumping in and out of car for at least a fortnight.
Dozy mare ended up taking her own stitches out the minute the bandage came off.

You should get him back tomorrow if no complications and if he keeps food down when offered it, which will probably be tomorrow morning now, I would think they would give you an elizabethan collar/buster collar to stop him getting at the op site, they may want him on a light diet for a few days and rest up as in walking around the home and going to the toilet only for a few days then light walking till stitches are out, no jumping or hooning.

Vet has just called and surgery went well just heavy bruising and definitly a nice large shiny stone...............he is just waking and already has his famous'one up one down ear look' and hiding under the blanket!!

Nice vet said on drip tonight, introduce water tomorrow and if it stays down he will be offered some food - if all goes smoothly he will be released within the next 24hrs ( fingers crossed )

So I am £600 more poorer.............expensive stone and not even a diamond!!
