I had Cat cremated.

I went for group cremation without return of ashes & it cost £300. I didn't want any ashes as I preferred to remember Cat as being my showjumper, full of life, and not reduced to ashes in a box, but this is a very personal thing and everyone will have very different ideas. What's important is to do what feels right for you.

My gelding was cremated in Leyland, Lancs in May last year. They were fantastic. Very proffessional and understanding. We had his ashes returned in a beautiful casket. x

Yes, I have. It was quite expensive. We got the ashes back in a box with my ponys name in a brass plate and brass handles. However the box is in the garage and the ashes were scattered. I dont know if he was creamated on his own or with others, and to be honest I dont think about it. I dont regret doing it at all, at the time I was too devastated to even consider other options. My thougts are with you. Please M me if you have any additional questions.

My old pony was cremated when she died a year and a half ago. I got the ashes back and buried them under a cherry tree in the garden (her stable name was Cherry). There is blossom appearing on that tree at the moment.

I had both my ponies cremated. One last year and one this. It cost £330 each but I had their ashes back as they were cremated individually. If you have them done with other smaller animals, it is cheaper at £180 but you are not allowed the ashes back and they scatter them in their gardens at the crem. The man who came to pick them up was very respectful and everything is done in a dignified manner. My first pony the vet stayed with to assist them. I stayed with both ponies as they were pts but didn't stay as they were put on the transporter. I just knew I couldn't watch that being done and don't even want to think what they do but i think I can imagine the procedure.

I had my boy cremated but didn't have the ashes back. Without wishing to be too grim about it, I just wanted to know that his body wasn't going to be used for anything. I think it cost me about £100.

My filly died suddenly just before Christmas. We weren't expecting it, hadn't insured Filly (v. stupid of me!!!) so completely skint. Local farmer took her to same place he took his old milkers. He brought me back some ashes but as it was a group cremation, they're probably 75% bovine! Sorry, I've got to be humerous - still painful to think too much about it. Cost me £100 for the privilage. Had I had the chance to think about it I would have contacted Veterinary Dept at Bristol Uni and donated her to science. Old vets in Hampshire were v. good with that sort of thing, used to arrange everything but vet I had at the time was pretty useless for guidence - too young and inexperienced i think. Have changed vets since!! Have bought wild cherry tree to plant in memory and will plonk ashes underneath.
