So our daughters 27 year old gelding has had to have emergency colic operation yesterday after being found in his field at 11am.Rainbow Old Malton have done a sterling job with the old lad removing 6 feet of small intestine that was strangled with fatty deposits (lipomas). He’s survived with obviously the next couple of days critical for him. We’re hoping we can collect him next week to start 6 weeks of box rest and here is my question. we are moving his field shelter, which is a stable on metal skids, from the far end of the field to be as close to the house as possible, about 30 metres, for access in the wet weather etc. The stable doesn’t have a floor so we’re concerned it will quickly get churned up and considering laying down 21 mm ply sheeting jointing them together with 18mm rubber mats as we did for our first pony some years ago. Has anyone comments or better suggestions please
