Charlie was diagnosed with a locking stifle in his right hind about 2 weeks ago. Vet advised lots of hill work and suppling to keep him fit and to try and prevent this. Doing the hillwork is not an issue as where he lives is at the top of the hill! He is turned out 24/7 virtually all year round. His field is on a hill. His stifle locked up yesterday morning and he appeared to be holding his right hind up in the evening when I returned to check him. However, on trotting up he was sound and was hacked incorporating the hill work. When checked this evening he appeared to be lame on the right hind again, but this did appear to improve when walked in hand and then lunged in the school. So should a locking stifle cause lameness afterwards and should he be exercised as normal. Thank you in advance.
