Advice needed- Laxative diet???

Hi My mare coliced quite badly yesterday and it took from 10am to 9pm last night for the vets to identify the problem!!!! In the end it became clear after several rectal examinations that she had an impaction but also her colon had desended (sorry excuse spelling) one part had sunk from the impaction and the other had risen from the gas!!!!

Anyway she seems fine now but we are taking it very sloowly as was severly dehydrated etc.

The vet has said to put her on a laxative diet from now on... but hasnt specified what!!! Other than bran mashes what else is there?????

She is also currently on box rest due to partially severing her check ligament so we are still looking at another few weeks in!!!

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Sloppy sugar beet (unmollassed if you prefer) and probably preferable to the bran which can cause a calcium/phos inbalance.

Soaked hay or haylage.

Personally I don't know what that is but it is definitely worth a call to your vet to check what he means. People on here may have different definitions.
