I have been advised to put my youngster in a hanging cheek snaffle by my instructor - he is currently going in a KK ultra snaffle 5 1/4 14 mm that he goes fairly nicely in , but recently he is getting a bit cheeky so a hanging cheek has been advised.. i tried a cheapy shires french link brand that he hated - i think this is due to such a small mouth and low palate and thought maybe the link was aggrevating him as he is used to his KK.. any way , i have looked at the Neue schule bits with the lozenge that seem to be the only bit in 51/4 and 14mm i can find - i would like to ask your advise if i should keep him in a 14 mm or move up to the 16 mm. He is quater horse x with small mouth which is why i chose the 14 mm before - however some one told me this will be too small in this neue schule size and the 16 mm would be better?? Any advice gratefuly recieved !! x x x

you can ring NS and talk to their bitting expert- i'm waiting for her to call me back actually. if you look on the website her number is on there

I agree call them - very helpful. I got my bit through them after seeing them at a lecture demo and then humming and aahing over whether I should get one and which one to get. My mare loves her bit now

Definitely give them a ring. I have two horses in the NS bits and they go really well in them. After speaking to Hillary I ended up buying a different bit to the one I thought I needed for my older horse. Only thing I have found it that I have had to go up a size compared to the Sprenger and Myler bits I was using before.
