Hi, I purchased a horse last weekend, all is going great. The seller says he will authorise the veterinary practice to allow me access to the horses records (I will be using the same practice). Apparently the previous owner to the seller (from 2 years ago) also used the same practice.
My question is, will the records going back to previous owner to the seller be available to me as well as the past two years records?
I am not sure if the previous, previous owner also has to authorise access to the records as this was not done when the seller bought the horse and contact with the previous owner to him has been lost.
Hope that all makes sense.

You should only get the records from the current owner, the rest will be withheld due to client confidentiality.
Why would you require records from over 2 years ago, if the horse passes a vet now that will be enough to insure it and any slight issues from longer ago should be resolved and of no concern now.

Thanks for your response. I haven't asked for the records, the person I bought from just said he would do it, he then mentioned the previous owner to him used the same practice but that he does not have contact details for them anymore. I was just curious about what history would be available to me should I need it, past 2 years only or further back with other previous owner.
