Hi.

I've never owned / bought or sold a brood mare before and have no idea how much they are worth to buy.

I know it depends on the home and the market at the time but ideas please!!!

6 year old well bred hanoverian mare by Medoc. Good conformation and great movement. Field sound but very slightly lame following a field injury (lameness only visible when lunged on a hard surface) . Specialist happy to write a report saying its traumatic, not because of conformation and that in her opinion it won't effect her as a brood mare and won't need on going treatment or corrective shoeing. Not yet had a foal.

Thanks

Does your mare have any competition or showing record? as this often inflates the price of broodmares. The fact that she is a maiden may go against her as there is no guarantee that she will be able to conceive. There are an awful lot of nice quality, ride-able horses for sale cheaply at the moment, I would go along with a guestimate of under £1000.

She would be worth more if she was certified in foal, particularly if it was to a popular stallion.

She would be worth more barren if she had already had a foal and was therefore 'proven'.

With good movement, temperment and dam line maybe £500 - £1,500

Hi

Just wondered what this mares breeding is. Its a long shot but I bred a filly foal by Medoc who would be 6 now and who I have lost contact with. Her siblings are doing well competing. PM me if you like,

Thanks.
