As title says really..
Recently, when I've been jumping, my pony has felt really unbalanced on landing, so much so that I have to bring him back to trot a few strides after. What could be causing this and how can I get him balanced after a jump so that we can stay in canter throughout an entire course?

Any replies gratefully recieved:)

Without wishing to offend, it could be u. Make sure u get a good seat sit up straight away, keep ur leg on and ur contact light but firm. If ur instructor says u are doing everything right then try some doubles and bounces to teach him to pick himself up after the fence. If not maybe work on ur own landing before blaming pony.

How do you mean?

Your best bet is to quietly re-balance the canter on a large circle and not approach another jump until the canter is back up together, if its a schooling issue then it will just take time for him to build up enough strength to remain balanced. However, you need to think why he's getting unbalanced- is he green? Things like your own balance, the arena surface, the fit of the saddle, his shoeing and the size of the jumps could all be factors

I really wouldn't be surprised if it was me, now that it is mentioned! I haven't been loaning him for that long and I'm not quite used to his jump yet, so my position is all over the place:( I am working on this though, so hopefully as this gets better so will pony's balance!
