Hi,
I was wondering if anyone can help me with some advice on how to ease my parents dog's anxiety.
They went on holiday last week and left their border terrier with dog sitter who promptly let him off at her stables (that's a whole other post!!) and he was kicked by a horse and dislocated his hip. He's had an operation to repair this but now he has to have 4 weeks cage rest and being in the cage is causing him distress.
I'm pretty sure he's not in anymore pain than you'd expect after surgery as he is relaxed when you have him outside the cage. I also don't think his anxiety is due to the fact that no one is near him as I can sit next to the cage an it doesn't settle him.
The cage is 91cm, as recommended by the vet, he has bedding and fresh water. He is currently at my brother's house as my Mum and Dad are still on holiday but we are going to move him later back to there's to see if this helps settle him.
I know he has to stay in the cage to ensure a good recovery, but I wondered if anyone had any suggestions about what we could do to ease his anxiety? It breaks my heart to hear him crying an unsettled.
Thanks in advance
