I haven't done any showing in ages and then it was ridden hunters so could someone help me with tack and plaits or natural.
the pony in question is a 13h part bred Dartmoor I'm thinking of doing a bit of showing with her but I'm not sure what type of tack and colour of tack she should be shown in
for in-hand or ridden.
if ridden what type of class (M&Ms ?) and do i have to plait ? do i need a pretty brow-band ?
bridles style for different classes ???
thanks in advance for any replies.

I do part-breds and i do it unplaited with a plain brow-band i also wear a hacking jacket and most people wear long boots for M&M'S. I don't really think it matters what colour tack you use for the classes just which ever colour suits him best hope this helps

A part-bred m&m is not an m&m so should be shown true to its type. So you need to decide if the pony is a hunter (most likely) or a show pony and turn out according to that.

If if it's a hunter pony your ideal turnout would be a plain flat bridle with no fancy browband, a saddle with a descreet or no numnah and a girth which tones in colour wise. The pony should have its mane plaited and its tail pulled. You should wear a velvet hat (navy, green or brown) with flesh coloured straps, a shirt and tie, a tweed (green or brown) jacket, jodphurs (cream, beige or yellow), short brown boots, leather gloves and carry a brown show cane. Obviously all this is rather expensive to purchase; local shows are forgiving turnout wise so do the best you can and save up for the more expensive purchases if you do want to continue to do this.

If the pony is particularly fine and you decide to do show pony then it's similar turnout with a few minor changes. The pony should wear a fancy browband and some people prefer to use white girths. You should wear a navy jacket, and with this a navy hat looks smarter instead of the brown or green options that you can also consider with a tweed jacket.

Echo what MissSbird says.
You should not do the M&M classes as they are for PURE breds only.
YOu can do the part breds, the height classes, Hunter pony classes (if she is a hunter type) etc.

thanks for your advice.
i think shes more hunter pony so a plain bridle it is.
think it might have to be an inhand class though as i think I'm too tall to ride her (5'6ish) unless i find a suitable little jockey in case your wondering why Ive got her it primarily to drive.
