I've got a very round sec D with no withers to speak of. Just lately his saddle slips from left to right. The advice i've been given so far is:
a) use a sticky gel pad type thingy.
b) use elasticated girth.
c) buy a new saddle ( NO WAY)
d) use really thin saddle cloth.
He is on a diet, so will lose weight EVENTUALLY, then i'll get the saddle re-fitted. Can anyone help.

Having been in the same situation, with the exact same breed of horse - get him losing the weight as quickly as possible as this makes the biggest difference of all. Use a sticky pad or saddlecloth in the meantime. Elasticated girths make it worse although the wide webbing girths are worth a try. When he's approaching his ideal weight, get the saddle refitted as a priority.

What make/type of saddle is it? Some of them will never fit a Welsh Cob, no matter how fit they are.

I had the saddle specially made for him 2 years ago, on a medium wide tree. Since he's put on weight, i've had it widened, so when he's lost the weight i'll have the fitter out to re fit it.
