My yearling filly is out of sorts, nothing particularly obvious to say she's ill but just not right. Firstly she still has most of her winter coat which is coming out, but slowly. She is quite lethargic and spending a lot of time laying flat out. She is wormed up to date, although due to be done again. Generally she is very laid back anyway but this is excessive.
So I'm wondering if she is just hot with her fluffy coat and if so should I clip her? Why has she still got the coat tho, that bothers me too? She didn't moult very well last summer either as the weather was up and down.
What do you guys think?

is her grazing good & free from poisionus weeds? can passers by feed her over the fence? my two presented the symptoms you discribe (overweight to bonebags in a fortnight) & bloods revealed ragwort/laburnum poisoning (land owner was feeding them over the fence of starvation paddock as they looked hungary) but then in an older horse i would have questioned Cushings as a possibility but dont know if yearlings can get it.

but would def get vet out & check her out they can become very ill very quickly with some illnesses

We do have a problem with people feeding them over the fence despite signs. Some people don't seem to understand that natives don't need knee high grass! She hasn't lost weight recently and is eating, drinking, peeing and pooing as normal but spending much of the day laying under the trees. I would ordinarily get the vet, but we are moving house on weds and will be 100 miles away so not practical for any follow up.
Was wondering if it would be worth clipping her to make her more comfortable in the heat, maybe she's just hot? I know I wouldn't be doing much if I had my coat on all day!
