Can some one please help me with my problem? When i ride out in company my sec D becomes very strong in canter, so much so that he puts his head virtually on the floor, i try half halts to slow him down, but it only has an affect for about a stride, then he just takes hold an goes faster. he is so strong that he pulls me forward out the saddle and unbalances me. I usually ride him in a loose ring snaffle with a french link and a flash, today i rode him in a dutch gag with a french link with two sets of reins and had the same problem.

Can you bridge your reins? At least then he won't be able to pull you out of the saddle.

Then I'd find a big hill and keep him running till hes begging to stop!

As hard as it is to do, how doe he react when you drop the contact...totally!!! Pulling against them is the wrong reaction, you'll get into a battle of wills and he will inevitably win.

If he is truly responsive in the school perhaps it might be worth considering a bit he can't hold onto, a cherry roller or similar.
