A friend of mine has a Chaigley Weekender that is fab, it fit my 17.2 with ease and gave him a fantastic journey.

I have been looking to purchase one similar and have the following options, a Chaigley Duo, a Regent (duo?) and also a Select. I have asked for the specs so that I can compare each lorry as they all seem very similar, but no-one has come back, apart from Regent who say their horse area is bigger than the Chaigley one.

So my question is - who has one of each and what do you think of them? Many thanks xx

Just to throw a little something extra into the mix

have a look at these

Local(ish) to you and offer a try before you buy service. IMHO they are one of the safest boxes on the market - you can get the horse(s) out of the back should there be a problem at the side and are a very easy drive. Fitted my big long 16.3 mare easily.

thanks jemima_too, yes I did think about the Theault however, my friend with a smaller horse than mine said it was a squeeze and wouldn't want any bigger in it, when she hired one a few weeks ago. My boy is a full up 17.2 if not a little bigger and I also have a 4 year old ID which is also growing at a rate of knots. Obviously I can't travel them together but I do need the room. The Regent have a 8ft height inside too.

thanks Stacey. What made you choose them instead of the other makes or do you just know them by reputation?

Also what kind of prices are we looking at???

The problem I have is the distance to go and see all these boxes in the flesh, however all the ones bar select are in Lancs so it might be worth a day trip.
Thanks xx

I spent months researching all the boxes and companies and they came up with the best price for what i was getting

I just got a 56 Reg (2.5ltr 6 gears emaculate condition) 45k miles, taxed MOT serviced - cam belt changed - for 16.5k
thats 2 horses - tack locker, wardrobe, padded partition !!

I can tell you i have had both and this one is miles better than my last one !! i also asked for it to be ready for 18th October and it was no messing around or delays !!

Im in Kent your more than welcome to look at mine xx

Ive dealt with Regent and found them very genuine and lovely to deal with. I only wish Id bought my wagon from them. They were building 3.5t when I went and they looked good and sturdy unlike one that came to our yard recently. I wouldnt hesitate buying from them.
A H&H member bought one a few months ago, I think its JS65, used to be barkinghorse. Maybe pm her and see how shes finding it.

I too have an Evolution II after borrowing my mothers. Lovely box, very accommodating & flexible builders. My last one was a Chaigley Duo. Nothing wrong with the Chaigley, must admit but I do like my Evo, very lightweight and well finished.
