At the fine age of 55,I owned my first and only horse for 2 years, and grew quite fond of him, but as the fate of" working extra hours to pay for him and it causing less time to be with him" occurred i finally had to sell him heavilly hearted. Now months on i have started to ride again but deeply miss that smell of my horse and leather and all the other equine smells about him that were possible ,which you dont seem to get involved with when you pay to be with a horse on a lesson. Am i wierd or something? Is there any others out there that can relate to my experiences and maybe give me some advice on how to address my passion.

You're not weird. It sounds like you miss the horsey lifestyle. Have you thought about finding a horse to share? If funds are limited you could see if anyone has an old retired horse in need of some extra fuss and attention? If you like the smell of leather that much why don't you buy some cheap second hand tack on eBay and keep it in your home? Sort of like the way pubs will display horse brasses and bits on the wall sometimes.

Not weird. I agree with Sugar and Spice in that you are missing your horsey life. Maybe you could find someone who would welcome some help with their horse in exchange for a small contribution.

thankyou sugar and spice. It was good to find out that someone else understands me. I very much like the idea of finding a horse to share but unfortunately at present my recent attempt at this hasnt been successful, so i will keep trying. Happy riding

Have you thought of volunteering for your local riding club? Apart from being surrounded by horses, you'll be surrounded by horse people and may come across someone looking for a sharer.
