Hi all, seeking a bit of advice/ recommendations for my good-doer please. He has ad-lib hay and currently a hand full of chaff to have his cortaflex (he's getting on and I want to keep him supple) with.
I'm concerned he's not getting his daily vits and mins so would appreciate any recommendations, whether it be supplement or balancer. Many thanks.

I like the Horse and Pony Direct Balancer.

Does what it says on the tin, very good value, no molasses and is delivered to your door :)

I use equimins adv. complete, with a bit of extra magnesium as it doesn't have enough for our needs.

I'm a big fan of balancers and use Baileys' appropriate one (either performance or low cal depending on level of work)

If you use a supplement you've have to feed something to carry it, with a balancer they can eat it as it is. So my vote is balancer

I feed Progressive Earth. Their basic one works out about £10 a month and he gets it in pink mash which is negligble sugar and starch but according to mine its very tasty!

What is a balancer if not vits and mins? You could do worse than Forageplus for their generic minerals balancer, formulated using the averages of deficiencies revealed in a huge number of fodder analyses, at least you will know it is made to balance something!

Given that you are already feeding a token feed I would look to add in a powdered supplement. I feed Equimins Advance but previously fed Feedmark Benevit Advance.
There are some decent balancers out there but there are far too many packed with sugar and floor sweepings!

Sorry to jump in on your post OP.

Leo Walker, which one do you feed? I buy milk thistle from pro earth and always look at their other products but am a bit mind boggled!
My 2 don't like their current vets/mins very much so looking for something a bit more palatable.

I agree Forageplus is a good balancer, however my mare refuses to eat it in spring / summer. I'd have to hide it in such a big quantity of food she'd be obese (or more likely, still wouldn't eat it).
So I'm feeding Pure Balance through the summer which she will at leat pick at, and will switch back to Forageplus in autumn / winter when the grass is less interesting and she is more keen on bucket feeds.
