my 3 yr old gelding has been acting odd since last wednesday.
he had his feed and haylage in the field last tuesday night. i went to see him wednesday took him in and gave him another feed. he ate a bit and stopped and pawed the ground once so i checked him all over and when i got to his side he put his ears back and swung his neck reond and bit his side.
i thought it was colic at first and took him for a gentle walk down the lane he hadnt eaten much and was after the grass.
i tred toughing his stomach again and he did the same. he was less bothered when eating.
anyway he didnt colic and has been eating fine since but he still grumpy when i touch his tummy, hes fine with stroking and grooming but when i push or poke he gets grumpy, not as bad as last tuesday but still grumpy.
what are the reasons he could be doing this? does it sound like anything any of you have heard of before?
on the tuesday morning he was sedated i dont know if this could have anything to do with it and he was on box rest for about 3 weeks then in a small paddock for about another 2 weeks now hes in the big field. the grumpyness started when he was in the small paddock.
