I am looking for some boots to use whilst dressage training my horse. I have started doing lateral work and I think he has knocked himself as both his front legs and hind legs have swollen.

It may be coincidence but wondering what other people use or if I should just stick to good old brushing boots. Thanks

I use brushing boots or Premier Equine sports boots. IMO the stretch and flex wraps are for older, established horses, to allow maximum freedom of movement and not very much protection! PE sports boots come in a triple layer version which looks like it offers more protection?

Another for premier equine use on my youngster who forgets which way his head and legs are supposed to face occasionally and they protect him fine. Same as freyab I think the stretch and flex are for more established horses as not much padding.

When you say his front and hind legs have swollen, is that localised, or all the way down? Just when standing in? I'd want to know why that is happening, it might not be as simple as just the boots you put on top... just a thought, anyway.

Thanks for all the advice and help sorry for the delayed replies. The swelling was localised around the fetlock joints and he was very slightly lame so I have had him in for a few days, cold hosed and upped his joint supplement.

Swellings have now gone, he has never had anything like it before so presumed boots may help if he is knocking himself.

Would I be right in assuming if it was something more that he swelling would still happen even when boots removed. It has never happened when jumping just when introduced the lateral work into the schooling. Any advice greatly appreciated.
