Hi all

Can anyone offer advice on which company to use for insurance for my boxer?

I have done some searching on the internet and th prices see to vary so much! Some seem really expensive - more than my horse insurance

Any reccomendations very greatfully recieved!

Hiya,

We're insured with NFU and its £200 for a year, cover for life. But we have both our horses with them as well, so we do get a discount for that.

I can't sing their praises enough - they've ALWAYS paid out for the horses, they're just amazing, just great.

I've only heard bad things about Tescos, and our vet won't deal directly with somebody like E&F?? But apparently they're awful.

I have recently done a load of research on this and we have our puppy insured with More Than. They offer a very similar cover to Petplan (£7k per condition for life) but the premiums are less (£16 per month for the first year with a 20% discount) and they were well recommended by the people on the Labrador Forum I go on.

I am with NFU for my house and horse insurance. I have added my dog for vets fees only for £5 a month. But it is a basic policy, just vets fees no other cover at all and for 12 months not life. Prior to this I had a Tesco pet policy which I had quite a hefty claim on and they paid up without query.

Thanks everyone for your replies. I will certainly have a look into all of them. I think i was just really shocked at the prices, but i think half of that is because i have a Boxer, they are not exactly renouned for their long healthy life span are they!?!?!

One of my dogs is with More Than and the other is with Petplan. The reason for that is that when I got my second dog, I preferred Petplan's cover, but couldn't change my other dog to Petplan as she would have had exclusions from prior claims, so it's best she stays with More Than. They cover her for life, but I have to pay the excess of £75 each policy year even if it is the same ongoing condition.

With Petplan there are different levels of cover and I chose cover for life.

Both companies are very good at paying up promptly, I can say from experience.
