Hi, after some advice please, bit of a novice and any suggestions gratefully received. Got a problem with a really 6 yr old welsh sec a lame mare, she's very timid in nature and it's difficult to get her to lift her feet. Very stiff on her legs, reluctant to move. Vet looked at her the other day when he came to geld My young colt and said to get her feet trimmed back (been trying to get hold of the blacksmith for a month) and get some no bute. Been giving her no-bute/alpha bute since wed (so only 48 hrs really) with no improvement. You got any wonder products you'd recommend? I'm running out of ideas, been on the internet all night. I've got her off grass in a barn with fresh water, some haylage and I'm giving her a bit if food twice a day with the bute stuff mixed in. Any suggestions from those of you with similar experiences/knowledge? Thanks in advance

I would also have her off the Haylage and on hay which has been soaked for at least 6 hours-little and often.

I'd be getting a different farrier if the one you use has not returned your calls for a month! Agree with posts above too, get vet to check for laminitis.

any decent farrier will know laminitis and trim accordingly, so you need him out TODAY.
Soak hay and do not feed anything with sugars [no more than 5%] but you need minerals. Maybe ask a feed firm for advice, depending on what brands are available. Do not starve, little and often if very greedy.
Provide a deep bed of shavings.
