Hi!

I have had my horse for 6 months now and have noticed that sometimes he gets tiny rubs on the corners of the outside of his mouth. He seems to get them when i put his flash on (we use it for hacking and jumping as he gets a bit keener) have tried a grackle too and had the same problem.

Hes in a loose ring KK snaffle with a lozenge. HEs not the most consitent to ride yet as hes young and unbalanced so sometimes falls on the forhand when unbalanced and gets a bit heavy on the hands sometimes sucks back so not sure if this could be contributing.

The sores seem to come and go and I can't pin point a sole cause for either!

I feel that i am generally a light handed rider, but he has a tendency to rush when he gets unbalanced and i automatically put the hand brake on - something we are both working on!

He is a connie cross with a 'short mouth and thick tongue'.

Any advice or any similar knowledge would be greatly appreciated. He is a sweetie and the sores dont seem to worry him at all but I dont like the fact that they are there.

Mant thanks.

LEah

I prefer a drop noseband to a flash, you can place it better. A flash is a compromise IMO.
I really hate to sound like Grandma but do lots of half halts to get him back and listening. :-)
