I have a yard in Surrey and I,m finding it difficult to fill, due to many not being able to afford full livery.Would it be reasonable to charge £350/month to include turn in and out, late night checks, feed and bedding but not mucking out. There is an allweather school, grazing and road free hacking. This is not an advert I just need your genuine opinion, mny thanks

I pay £295 a month with indoor and outdoor school and mucking out as well. £350 a month seems a lot even for Surrey. Why no mucking out? It seems an odd compromise between Diy and part livery.

I've been looking for yards in Surrey - moving my boys next weekend and paying £420 pcm for part livery 5 days but on the 2 DIY days it does include one end of the day (so either t/o or bring in). It also includes all feed and hay. I wouldn't pay £350 a month for no mucking out. The yard i'm moving to has 2 schools, a lunge pen and a horse walker, all yr T/O and very good hacking and is nowhere near the price of yours!

The yard that I am leaving is £135 pcm for Assisted DIY (either bring in or T/O).

Hope this helps

for what your offering to me seems like assisted DIY tbh and thats alot of money for that service...part livery maybe but with mucking out too...
have you seen the competition around your area with what they are offering price wise, facilities etc...maybe worth a gauge

If the livery has to muck out then surely they would t/o or bring in when they do this. Seems a bit odd that they would have to go up anyway to muck out but you t/o and bring in?

Seems very expensive to me TBH though Surrey is an expensive part of the country. I know I'm in a different area of the country but my yard charges £360 a month for part livery (so basically everything... TO, BI, muck out, feed, bedding, haylage, horse on walker 5 days a week, everything made up and given, rugs changed, groomed, feet picked out and washed).

Thanks for reply, mine did include all hay, bedding and feed,my 7 day part livery is only £420/month ,I was just trying to find a way to make it a bit cheaper for people without compromising on the quality of care or fed etc

Mine is £300 a month part livery, has a floodlit all weather menage, all year round turnout, horsewalker etc and as well as everything being done weekdays (so muck out, rug change, feet picking out and turn in and out as well as skip out) it also includes turning out and bringing in at weekends as well as giving haylage so they are never in at the weekends with nothing! Price also includes all hay/haylage, shavings, hard feed and stables are large with an automatic water feeder, rubber matting, a hayrack and a swivel feeder. So i do think £350 for what you offer is very steep

I would offer DIY livery with additionals available.

So looking to charge between £25-30 per week. Then charge extra for turnout / in etc.

You can offer full or part livery for those who want it - but my experience is that flexibility is what fills stables.

.

Hey we do full livery at 280 per calender month, includes large stable bedding, haylage, mucking out, turnout and bringing in,all year turnout, late night checks, off road hacking and spacious floodlit exercise area,we are west yorkshire,350 seems very expensive even for area, hope that helps:)

Hey, i've been looking round livery yards A LOT recently, and unfortunately i think your problem with filling the yard lies 1. with the price and 2. because it's neither DIY nor, full nor part. You would be better off advertising as DIY (which is more popular atm due to economic climate) but then offering additional services on top, i.e. turn out bring in etc. Or you could do a part livery, where it's turn out every day, inc hay and straw, but owner mucks out 5 days a week and full livery 2 days a week - that's what i'm on and it's £280 pm.... Good luck!
