I am currently looking for lighting for my home made small ménage that does not require planning permission and preferably without being powered by mains electricity. I have come across Retractable Lighting company; however after enquiring about the product they seem to be quite expensive and mains powered. I do however like the concept of them lol. I read that someone else on H and H tried to replicate the idea buy sourcing the items separately, which I am now contemplating on doing. Prior to discovering this company I was planning on using solar / battery powered lights and just attaching them to each corner of the ménage. I read that this would be a hindrance to the horse as the light would be eye level. Do the lights need to be high? (as found in professionally constructed ménages in livery yards and riding schools) Also is it paramount to use metal halide lighting? I read that horses find it difficult to see in the sodium variety. Any advice on both matters would be appreciated immensely. :)
