my filly is 13 months old and before i got her she had never been on rich grass..her paddock was poor with a bit of grass as it had been turned up because of all the wet..we have two paddocks at my place now we have the very rich summer grazing at the back that is used for cattle grazing all year round and summer grazing for our lot and we have the nearly bald winter turn out for all those who are on the chunky side or prone to lami..

just interested to know what i should do with my girl? she needs the grass but i dont want to give her system a shock and put her on rich grass right away. i was considering turning her out in the bald paddock first and walking her up to summer grazing once a day so she can munch and then after a few weeks turn her out in it during the day then in during the night and then maybe over night once shes used to it?

ideas would be much appriciated sorry for the essay :D

Gradually build up if u can or strip graze. Also feeding magnesium can help. If the grazing is rich, keep up a high fibre feed or hay so that the sugars move through the gut slowly and r digested in the right place. X
