Hope someone can help - I posted a while ago re recommendations for BP's. and since I have been measured for a airowear zippa (the size 3 fitted perfectly, but she said to go for the next size down so it will adjust to a little weight loss - therefore, size Ladies 2, short) and a racesafe (kids extra large, short). But after everyone's recommendations, it's a rodney powell that I want (i think).

none of the quite limited choice of saddlers in our area stock them, so I can't go and get fiitted for one - does anyone know how the sizes compare?
I am a size 10 to 12 top, but v v short.

Cheers v v much in advance!

i'm pretty sure you can take your own measurements and order one, i think you need usual measurements plus the one from shoulder, down around crotch and back up to back of shoulder, in one continuous loop! i ordered my 2nd RP one online.

thanks - i will do that tonight as well, just a bit wary of ordering expensive bits of kit without trying on & may run out of time if i have to send it back and reorder etc. - do you like your rp bp? have you had others to compare?

yes, i love it, am on my second one, old one was getting a bit tired-looking after many years, and i didn't even consider anything else. i love it, and i know lots of other people on here do too, but some people find them very solid and restrictive. i really really think it's worth travelling to an event to try one on, they have them on the tradestands at lots of BE events for instance. you really need to feel what one's like tbh.
have a search for other threads on back protectors, might be worth a try.

great cheers - unfortunately, i only have until 21st april to get one before xc training event, (sold my old one on ebay - oops, should have waited) so will have to mail order. will get it fitted once it comes though!. just wanted to make an educated guess before ordering.

I have to agree on trying one first. I tried on a RP one and hated it. I'm about the same size as you (by the sounds of it) and I have a Just Toggs junior extra large. It's really comfy to wear. It's hinged like the racesafe inside but looks solid on the outside. The best bit is that the bottom of the back slides up if need be so it'll never dig into the saddle.
If I was buying another I think I'd go for a racesafe. I treid on an airowear but didn't like the shoulders. It's very much a personal choice. Probably not what you wanted to hear. If you mail order from a good company though I'm sure they'll take returns so worst case you'll only loose out on p&p.
