Sandro Hit apparently could not jump- although bred to be an international showjumper, with a superb dam/sire and generations of jumping lines, he had no power there when jumping although he made a nice shape. So he was then produced for dressage, and seems to have produced ONLY dressage horses, no jumpers.

So my question is, does the fact that sandro hit himself could not jump, does it mean that it is unlikely that his offspring are good jumpers? Surely it was just a one-off that S.H couldnt jump, because he still has the genes there,so is there still every chance that the 'good' jumping genes could be passed onto the next generations?

The reason why I ask is because I would like to use a son of Sandro Hit to sire an event horse. The man himself has been produced for dressage, but they say is a fantastic jumper, BUT there is a picture of him jumping on his stud card with dangling legs

His dam side has international TB/WB eventing bloodlines. I really want to use this stallion because I want the fab movement in the offspring, but am a bit concerned about a 'non-jumper' being produced...or am I just having irrational fears? The mare I am hoping to use with him is a fab jumper with a really super technique..

Those sound like Deanes San Ciro Hit's bloodlines. I've never seen him jump but if is him, I believe his dam (by Dutch Courage) was an intermediate eventer in her own right so that could be a plus as could be the fact that Catherston Dazzler also did well in eventing and has sired several international eventers too.

I did see Sandro Hit's sire Sandro jumping Puissance in Denmark before PS took him back to Germany so the jumping talent is there iin the back of the pedigree so perhaps it was a temperament/bravery problem with SH?

Are you talking about Deans San Ciro Hit? Hes meant to be really something special, and his record so far proves it aswell. Altho on the dressage front, not the jumping side

If you want a dressage stallion that jumps Sir Donnerhal has a beautiful jump and really motors across country too.

Oooh Oooh Anatasia she is absolutely stunning!! WOW ! I bet she would have been a good dressage horse as well? What kind of mare was she out of?

Was concerned because had not heard of any Sandro Hit sons even jumping a fence- all dressage!

Thanks everyone, yes it is Deanes San Ciro Hit that I was talking about. He is going eventing this year apparently! However, I would be using him before he goes eventing,so I just wanted to check out this jumping thing.

If you want to breed an event horse why choose an unproven horse with dressage lines ? There are so many stallions out there with good jumping lines who will have more than enough movement for eventing.

She is out of a Figaro x Weltmeister mare. Funnily enough I would say she is a bit weaker on the movement front (especially in trot), hence why she was an excellent cross with our own stallion.

This was her foal from 2007:

Most the SH stock are dressage, but some are doing other disciplines.

Good point, but this is one of a few that I can find that is within my price range and one that has exactly the right conformation and height that is needed for my mare, and has good bone, and long legs without being a huge heavy stallion. Also nearly all stallions seem to be over 16.2 hands and I want smaller- DSH is around 16hands.

I guess that when you think about it, they wouldnt risk embarassing themselves by saying that he will be going eventing this year unless they thought that he was going to do well? Also Preci Spark used him on a few of their event mares last year.

However not saying that this is the 'one'- I'm still keeping my options open!

Thanks just looked up his record!
He's done well but looks like his rider is one of thos that has a mental block about Intermediate XC unfortunately so will give him the benefit of the doubt,...still horse is only a baby!
