Some advice please :)

My TB gets v excited jumping, and very strong. She is ridden in a snaffle and a running martingale as shes all head in the air, bouncy and grunty! after she has jumped the jump she gets really strong and that's when i have problems pulling her up, she just locks on to the next one and womf shes over it jumped it flat and probably knocked it down as shes rushed!! so grid work has come in handy makes her think - its just when we get a course of jumps. Currently jumping up to about 3ft. Shes rising 6 and has been jumping for around 18 months.
. Also i have noticed sometimes she is not tidy in front with her legs and one is higher than the other - particularly on smaller fences, with a spread at a decent hight she doesn't do this and gives a good clearance.........any suggestions on how to encourage tidiness or will this come with experience?

Going to be booking a few lessons in the next few weeks as soon as i have found an instructor :)

Perhaps taking her right back to basics might help. You want her to understand what the rein aids mean better, so she comes back to you and listens, instead of tanking off to the next jump.

I would try trotting her over jumps. And circling before and after the jump. You want to keep her in a nice rhythm in trot, and circle until she is calm, then jump, and circle right away at the other side. Do this until she starts to listen for your commands, and stays in trot after the jump.

Dont let her rush into the jump or rush away, always ask her right back to a trot and circle to keep her listening.

When jumping a course, circle belween the fences, so that she doesnt look to the next one and just buggers off. She has probably just been allowed to do her own thing when jumping, so u need to get her listening to you. When she stays with you, then you can try jumping a course. I always jump for a trot for a long time, this way the horse learns to stay quiet, as in canter sometimes they can get a bit hot, and forward. When you can jump a course in trot, try it in canter, remembering to canter circles between the jumps to keep her listening. Even bringing her back to a walk after the jumps, just to keep her thinking, so she waits for your aids. hope this helps.
